I just wanted to wish all of you a belated Merry Christmas and share with you a little gift to hopefully recharge your creative spirit!
McNair Wilson is a former Disney “Imagineer”. He is also a committed follower of Jesus and a popular public speaker. I heard him speak at an Internet ministry conference five or six years ago, and I loved what he had to share about creativity and brainstorming.
McNair recently took a position on staff at Compassion International as Compassion Experience Manager. He also recently did a phone interview for an online magazine where he discusses:
- The nature of creativity
- Recapturing your creative spirit
- Keys to effective brainstorming
- Experiencing a creative block?
- So what is an Imagineer?
- Inspire your team
I really enjoyed listening to these short interview clips, and I’ll hope you’ll take some time as well to listen and be renewed in your creative spirit this year.
Merry (belated) Christmas!
Happy Tweetsgiving
Here's an interesting idea: Tweetsgiving. The goal is to raise $10,000 in two days (between now and the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday) to build a new classroom for a school in Tanzania. The method is Twitter (updates on Twitter are called "tweets") and the social web (using YouTube to spread viral ...
Delivering Fresh Photos (and More) From Afar
My friend Terry White has an interesting update on his blog today about how one Grace Brethren missionary couple is keeping a supporting church updated via a digital picture frame: Attenders at the Winona Lake (IN) Grace Brethren Church (Bruce Barlow, lead pastor) can have instant communication from their sent missionaries ...
The Age of the Storyteller
A few months ago, I had the opportunity to meet Luke Renner, the founder of the new Caribbean Institute of Media Technologies (CIMT), which launches this week. Luke is a visionary videographer, and I'd call him another great example of a kingdom journalist—and not only that, but one that is ...
Kingdom Journalism from Liberia
Christina Holder is a kingdom journalist. She went to the West African nation of Liberia in June simply to "write about how this country is rebuilding after being torn apart by a 14-year civil war." So far she has written articles for the Washington Post (her latest was published today) ...
Mobile Phones in Uganda
I've read about the spread of mobile phones in Africa, but this is the first time I've seen a real "village phone" station in action! This video was produced by a Dutch video journalist named Ruud Elmendorp. BTW — Elmendorp is also one of the few people to have ...
Digital Storytelling
When I visited East Asia in May, I had the privilege of meeting Angeline Koh, one of the creative people who is "giving voice to the disciplemaking vision" of Navigators in Singapore. Angeline emailed me this week to tell me more about "digital storytelling." As Angeline explains on her blog, ...
SIM Is Like Google
Who doesn't want to be like Google?! Well, this may not be the most flattering comparison, but again (as in my LEGO example) I find strange comfort in being right in there with the big guys like Google (even if it isn't in the best way). Here's what I'm talking about: What ...
SIM Is Like LEGO
Is "thou shalt not confuse thy brand name with another" one of the 10 commandments?! Gosh, I hope not ... I recently found an intriguing little comment thread over on Phil Vischer's blog, discussing the brand identity of the LEGO company: According to the official LEGO website (and yes, guys, it is ...
Out on the Bleeding Edge: 3D Holographic Video
I recently wrote a blog post for Leadership Network's Digital blog about a cutting edge new video technology called "TelePresence." The implications/applications of 3D holographic video for missions are hard for me to identify (maybe you have some ideas/suggestions?), but I wanted to pass along the link here for those ...
