Videoblogging from Swaziland

Tom Davis, President of Children’s HopeChest (a ministry to orphans), is videoblogging his current trip to Swaziland. I think this is a really creative use of video on the Web, essentially inviting supporters (and potential supporters) along on a journey of discovery about your organization and your ongoing work. It’ll be interesting to watch over the next few weeks. (Seth Barnes, from Adventures In Missions, is also along for the trip and will probably be blogging about it.)
As Davis states in his inaugural video (which you can watch below), “We want you to come on this journey with us, not so you can just kind of peer in, but so you can see how you can be involved. And maybe in the process, God will really motivate and move your heart to say, ‘You know what? I could really do somthing to help that little boy or that little girl!’”
On a related (fundraising) note: Check out the “Charity Badge” in the right sidebar on Davis’ blog. This is something set up through Network for Good and allows Web visitors to make donations to specific projects or ministries. I’m sure Network for Good takes a little bit out of the donation for themselves, but it might still be something for SIM offices to consider, as it allows supporters to then place these Charity Badges on their personal websites and extends the reach for broader-based fundraising.
