The urgency of the ongoing work of missions is underscored by this recent report compiled by a Singaporean with a PhD in missiology:
“27% of the people in the world live ‘beyond the Gospel.’ These are the unreached people of the world who most likely have never heard the Gospel a single time from someone. For them it is as if Christ never came. Surely these people are the priority for Great Commission Christians … Yet for every $10,000 in personal income, the average Christian gives only 1 penny to reach these people. Out of every 10,000 professional Christian ministers, only 100 are serving in cross-cultural missions and only 2 are serving among the 27% of the world that is unreached!”

NOTE: I’ve added the “Unreached People of the Day” widget (produced by the Joshua Project) to my sidebar. You can grab the code and add it to your site, as well, by visiting this page.
UPDATE 6/13/2007: I’ve removed the Joshua Project widget from my sidebar because it was breaking my template in Internet Explorer on the Windows OS. Until I can get that resolved, it’ll have to stay off. Sorry ’bout that! Go check the link above to see it for yourself.
