SP Launches Channel on Brightcove

Samaritan’s Purse (SP) has opted to go with Brightcove for hosting their online video—an interesting choice, but understandable because of Brightcove’s pleasing aesthetic style (they have a nice Flash video player) and seemingly stable future as a start-up.
Not only does SP now have a “channel” on Brightcove (like the SIM International “channel” on YouTube), but they’ve redone their “Multimedia Center” on samaritanspurse.org using the Brightcove player, as well. They’ve also begun creating some “microsites” (like this one for Liberia) which uses a combination of embedded Brightcove-hosted videos and photo slideshows presented using the Slideshow Pro player (which we’ll be incorporating into the new SIM.org, BTW).
I still think there’s a lot of value in being on the two top video sharing sites (YouTube and Google Video). I don’t have the stats handy to prove it, but I imagine these are the top two. So the carryover “viewership” that you get as an organization simply by being on these sites is well worth investing in hosting your videos there. We are keeping all of our SIM videos on Google Video right now, because the Google Video player is the cleaner more elegant solution of the two (compared to YouTube), for embedding videos onto the SIM.org website. Of course, Brightcove’s player is prettier (and the Brightcove name/logo more “anonymous” because it’s less well-known), but the Brightcove site simply will not attract nearly as many eyeballs as the Google/YouTube juggernaut—and that’s the deal-breaker for me at this point in terms of switching over. (That, and the fear that Brightcove will go belly-up tomorrow and disappear from the Internet forever!)
What do you think? Any thoughts out there? Is Brightcove better than Google Video and/or YouTube? And if so, why? I appreciate your thoughts and feedback.
