Kingdom Journalism from Liberia

Christina Holder is a kingdom journalist. She went to the West African nation of Liberia in June simply to “write about how this country is rebuilding after being torn apart by a 14-year civil war.” So far she has written articles for the Washington Post (her latest was published today) and for SIM, among other organizations.
As she shared in the inaugural post of her Liberia blog, “Healing is taking place in Liberia, and the world needs to know about it! Liberia’s story is underreported in the worldwide media, and I believe that there are so many stories that need to be told to bring awareness to Liberia’s needs and to give many people hope in seeing how God works out his healing and redemption in the midst of great brokenness.”
I think that’s a beautiful statement about what kingdom journalism looks like. But the beauty of Christina’s intentions and work in Liberia have not protected her from facing some real difficulties. Just one month into her time in Liberia, Christina was robbed at knife- and gun-point. By God’s grace, she has been able to continue her work, and she sounds (from her blog anyway) to be doing well and recovering from this traumatic experience.
Now that Christina has reached the half-way point in her time in Liberia, I’m only getting more and more excited about the work she is doing. I hope you’ll remember to pray for Christina as she spends three more months there, doing the work of kingdom journalism to raise awareness about this often forgotten country and the glorious work that God is doing in making all things new.
Here are a few of the articles Christina has written about SIM’s work in Liberia during her time there:

I loved meeting Christina, and love the way “grace” comes through in her writing!
