I’m Going to Idea Camp!

No, this isn’t some summer camp for creatively-challenged kids (although we may all be young at heart … and/or creatively-challenged), Idea Camp is actually the brainchild of Charles T. Lee, pastor of New Hope Church in Torrance, California. As the Idea Camp website explains, “Idea Camp is a FREE, open source hybrid conference designed to help people move from ideation to implementation.”
The first Idea Camp took place on the West Coast, and I’m excited that the next one will be taking place here on the East Coast, in Washington, D.C., August 28-29. I’m looking forward to attending, as the theme of this Idea Camp is “Compassion & Justice” and over 40 organizations will be represented there, sharing ideas and learning from one another.
Charles has begun posting some of the discussion topics on the Idea Camp Ning site, and here are a few of the ones I’m really looking forward to:
Cause Marketing and the Power of Story, led by Nicky Yates from Charity:Water
Social Media for Social Justice, led by my friend DJ Chuang from Leadership Network
Non-Profit Organizations as Connectors, led by Ryan Sisson from Eleho
If you’re anywhere near D.C., I’d encourage you to get yourself to Idea Camp. I’d love to connect with you there! If you can’t be there, good news: the first Idea Camp was streamed live via Ustream, and I believe there are plans to do the same for ICDC. So you can still benefit from the great content and information that is shared, as well as participate yourself via Twitter and text messaging:

Hey Chris,
Thanks for giving me a shout. I look forward to meeting you in D.C. and learning more about H.E.L.P.!
Shalom,
